On Nov. 19, 2011, Premier Wen Jiabao attended China-Japan-ROK Leaders' Meeting in Bali, Indonesia. He exchanged views with President Lee Myung-bak of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on China-Japan-ROK cooperation and international and regional issues of common interest.
Wen said China-Japan-ROK cooperation maintains a good momentum and the cooperation in all fronts is progressing constantly, which not only serves the interests of the three countries, but also benefits the stability and development of Asia and the world. Next year, China will be the coordinator for China-Japan-ROK cooperation. Next year will also embrace the 40th anniversary of normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan and the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and ROK. China will take the opportunity to strengthen high-level exchanges, policy coordination and strategic mutual trust with Japan and ROK and provide political impetus for the trilateral cooperation toward greater progress.
Wen said that the three countries need to work together to ensure completion of joint study on China-Japan-ROK free trade area within the year, launch negotiations on free trade area next year, and complete negotiations on China-Japan-ROK investment agreement as early as possible. The three countries need to fully carry out joint land-and-sea transport cooperation, promote the construction of information service network in Northeast Asia, expand cooperation in emerging industries, and speed up industrial upgrading and economic restructuring. The three countries need to strengthen financial cooperation and expand the size of bilateral currency swap. The three countries need to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, green economy, disaster prevention and mitigation, livelihood and other areas, speed up the construction of circular economy bases, and promote sustainable development. The three countries need to expand social and cultural exchanges, strengthen non-governmental exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people and strive to reach the target of 26 million person times of personnel exchanges between the three countries in 2015. The three countries need to give full play to the role of the China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat and enable it to provide strong service and support for trilateral cooperation.
Japanese and Korean leaders said that China-Japan-ROK cooperation achieved fruitful results in various fields and the trilateral cooperation enjoys a bright prospect. In the current situation, China, Japan and ROK need to make constant efforts to deepen exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, finance, investment, disaster relief, culture, education, tourism, youth and other fields and strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs for common development.
The three leaders also exchanged views on other international and regional issues.
