On November 18, 2011, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra on Indonesia's Bali island.

China cherishes its traditional friendship with Thailand and recognizes the country's important influence in the region, Wen said. The Chinese side wishes to keep momentum in high-level exchanges with Thailand and enhance mutual political trust between the two countries, Wen said. The two countries should strengthen comprehensive planning for their strategic cooperation, deepen cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, finance and marine, and facilitate regional interconnection, he said. The premier added that China is ready to expand cooperation with Thailand on law enforcement to ensure navigation safety and maintain order on the Mekong River, and is willing to continue its assistance to flood-stricken Thailand.

For her part, Yingluck said Thailand is grateful for China's timely and tremendous relief assistance for the recent flood, which showed the friendliness of the Chinese people and strengthened the confidence and capacity of the Thai side to fight the flood. Thailand welcomes Chinese enterprises to participate in post-disaster reconstruction, Yingluck said. She said Thailand highly values its relations with China, wishes to further deepen cooperation with China in areas such as water resources, trade and economy and infrastructure, and welcomes investments from Chinese companies. Thailand is ready to join hands with China and other relevant countries to maintain safety on the Mekong River, the prime minister said.
