The First Meeting of China-Indonesia High-level Economic Dialogue Held
2015/01/28

On January 26, 2015, the first meeting of China-Indonesia high-level economic dialogue was held in Beijing. State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (deputy prime ministerial level) Sofyan Djalil of Indonesia co-chaired the meeting with a view to implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and they exchanged in-depth views on major cooperation topics such as bilateral economy, trade and investment.

Both sides agreed that China-Indonesia economic and trade cooperation has yielded fruitful results in recent years. The proposal of co-constructing the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road put forward by President Xi Jinping and the strategic concept of building a maritime power proposed by President Joko Widodo of Indonesia share broad strategic integrating points, providing a vast space for the two sides to deepen practical cooperation in all fields and advance the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Yang Jiechi expressed that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relationship and also the 60th anniversary of the convening of the Asian-African Conference in Bandung. Both sides should take this opportunity to further expand the scale of bilateral trade and intensify cooperation in such fields as major infrastructure construction and electric power, thus to push bilateral economic cooperation for mutual benefit, win-win results and common development.

Sofyan Djalil said that Indonesia will work with China to further tap the cooperation potential in such fields as investment, trade, infrastructure and the construction of special economic zones in Indonesia, and to deepen the connotation of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Following the meeting, both sides signed the Minutes of the First Meeting of High-level Economic Dialogue Between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia as well as a letter of intent for power station cooperation.
