The 2nd Meeting of China-Indonesia High-level Economic Dialogue Held in Jakarta

On May 9, 2016 local time, State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution of Indonesia co-chaired the 2nd meeting of China-Indonesia High-level Economic Dialogue in Jakarta.

Both sides spoke positively of the progress of China-Indonesia practical cooperation since the launch of the 1st meeting more than a year ago, introduced respective economic policies and development strategies, exchanged in-depth views on cooperation in such fields as bilateral trade, investment, finance, infrastructure, industrial park construction, energy, agriculture and fishery industry and reached broad consensus. Both sides agreed that China and Indonesia are in the key period of development with corresponding development strategies and broad cooperation opportunities. The two countries should give full play to the role of high-level economic dialogue mechanism, jointly take effective measures, deal with global economic challenges, and promote bilateral practical cooperation, so as to continue to enrich the connotation of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Yang Jiechi expressed that China and Indonesia are good neighbors, friends and partners. Bilateral relations enjoy a sound momentum of development with high complementarity and huge potential in economic cooperation between the two countries. China stands ready to, together with Indonesia, well implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both countries, integrate development strategies, and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to achieve common development.

Darmin Nasution expressed that Indonesia regards China as an important cooperative partner, and is willing to further expand cooperation opportunities, strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, and provide convenience for Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Indonesia, so as to promote bilateral economic relations to make greater development.

After the meeting, both sides signed cooperation documents including the minutes of the meeting.
