Indonesian president meets with senior CPC official

JAKARTA, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo met with Song Tao, a visiting senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) here on Wednesday.

Song, the head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, firstly conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Joko Widodo.

During the meeting, Song said that China and Indonesia are both developing countries which play an important role in the international community. A healthy bilateral relation conforms to the interests of both countries, he added.

China is willing to strengthen bilateral ties by further enhancing the political mutual trust with Indonesia, synergizing the development strategies of the two countries, advancing exchanges and cooperations in all sectors, according to the Chinese official.

President Joko Widodo, for his part, asked Song Tao to convey his best wishes to President Xi. He said that China and Indonesia have built close ties and carried out profound cooperation with each other.

Indonesia is willing to strengthen communication, enhance the level of practical and win-win cooperation with China, as the country attached great importance to Indonesia-China ties, said President Joko.

Song started his South East Asia trip on April 7. Indonesia is the last stop of his 10-day visit. Previously he visited Cambodia and Malaysia.
