Xi Jinping Meets with President Joko Widodo of Indonesia

On April 22, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Joko Widodo of Indonesia in Jakarta.

Xi Jinping expressed that our commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference is of important epochal significance. I will work with you to ensure the success of the conference and by inheriting and carrying forward the Bandung spirit, to enhance unity, friendship and cooperation among vast developing countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Indonesia diplomatic relations. You paid a successful state visit to China last month, and we should join efforts to better and faster translate bilateral consensus into practical results. We should keep the sound momentum of close communication at all levels, speed up the implementation of established agreements between the two countries as well as the connection of bilateral development strategies, advance balanced trade through comprehensive measures, earnestly carry out the bilateral local currency swap agreement, and strengthen practical cooperation in such fields as aviation, maritime affairs, science and technology as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges. China is willing to encourage more competent Chinese enterprises to take part in infrastructure construction and operation as well as more Chinese citizens to travel in Indonesia. Both countries should boost cooperation in such multilateral organizations as the UN, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation as well as the G20, and facilitate coordination on global topics including climate change as well as energy and food security. China will continue to support the construction of the community of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as ASEAN's leading role in regional cooperation.

Joko Widodo extended welcome to President Xi Jinping for his attendance of the Asian-African Summit and activities commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference in Indonesia. He said that Indonesia hopes to expand cooperation with China in all fields, and will deeply study and explore the opportunities of bilateral cooperation that will be brought by China's concept of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road as well as Indonesia's new development strategy. The Indonesian side welcomes China to expand investment in Indonesia's infrastructure.

Following the meeting, Xi Jinping and Joko Widodo witnessed the signing of the cooperation document on the project of high-speed rail between the two countries.

Following the meeting, both sides issued the Joint Press Communiqué Between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Indonesia.
