BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- The
Indonesian Tagguh gas field has been selected as the
gas supplier for China's second LNG (liquefied natural gas) import terminal to be constructed in east China's
Fujian Province.
China
National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), which had
presided over bidding for the Guangdong LNG terminal,
announced here Thursday that after its negotiations
with BP, the Tagguh gas field was picked as the gas supplier
for the Fujian terminal on the condition that BP and
Indonesia kept the terms they promised when bidding
for the Guangdong LNG
project.
The Fujian LNG
terminal, a joint investment by CNOOC and the Fujian Investment & Development Co.,Ltd, will be built
in the Meizhou Gulf. CNOOC will take up 60 percent of
the total investment. Construction of the first phase will start in 2004 andthe terminal will begin
operating in 2006. The handling capacity of the first
phase is due to reach 2.5 million tons of LNG per year. Enditem
