Senior Chinese leader meets Indonesia's president-elect(10/15/2004)

   JAKARTA, Oct. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- China is ready to make vigorous efforts to push forward its friendly relations with Indonesia, visiting senior Chinese leader Wu Guanzheng has told Indonesia's president-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, a Chinese spokesman saidon Thursday.
   
   To promote bilateral relations between China and Indonesia is not only in keeping with the fundamental interests of the two peoples, but is also conducive to peace, stability and prosperity in the region, said Wu, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
   
   During their meeting in Bogor near Jakarta late on Wednesday, Wu conveyed to Yudhoyono a message from Chinese President Hu Jintao, who once again expressed his congratulations on Yudhoyono's election as president of Indonesia.
   
   Hu said in his message that he is ready to work together with Yudhoyono to give a fresh impetus to the friendly relations of cooperation with Indonesia.
   
   Wu Guanzheng, who is also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said that it is an established policy of the CPC and the Chinese government to vigorously develop the friendly relations between the two countries.
   
   The friendly cooperation between the two countries will become even more fruitful through joint efforts, Wu said.
 
    At the meeting, Yudhoyono asked Wu to convey to President Hu and other Chinese leaders his best regards and good wishes. He said he was pleased to meet the friends from the CPC before takingoffice in a week's time.
   
  The CPC delegation's current visit to Indonesia is a success, which is a telling witness to the growing strategic cooperative ties between the two countries, according to Yudhoyono.
 
   All-round cooperation between the two countries in various fields will further expand in the future, he said.
 
    On the question of Taiwan, Wu briefed Yudhoyono about the Chinese government's principled stand on the issue. Adherence to the one-China stand, Yudhoyono said in response, is not only the policy of the Indonesian government, but also is the consensus of Indonesia's political parties and the Indonesian people as a whole.
   
   Wu arrived in Jakarta Monday night for a good-will visit to Indonesia, the third leg of his four-nation tour, which will also take him to the Philippines. Wu has already visited Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Enditem
