Wang Yi: The Chinese Side Is Willing to Share 5G Development Opportunities with the World

On July 8, 2019 local time, while jointly meeting the press with Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz of Poland in Warsaw, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi answered a question on 5G. Wang Yi pointed out, 5G is a symbol of the progress in communication technology and a result of international cooperation. The development opportunities brought by 5G should be shared by the world rather than monopolized and controlled by a certain party. The Chinese side is willing to encourage its enterprises to share their innovation achievements in 5G with other countries in a bid to jointly raise the level of the global telecommunication industry and benefit the people in more countries. We have noticed that the Polish side said it will safeguard a fair and open telecommunications market and will not adopt exclusionary policies against specific countries or enterprises. We believe that such stance is fair and reasonable, also conforms to the development trend of the times, and is in full compliance with the interests of the Polish side. The Chinese side looks forward to conducting cooperation in more innovative areas with the Polish side to inject new connotations into bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.
