China and Indonesia will co-establish Joint Laboratories

During the second meeting of the cultural and people-to-people exchange mechanism between China and Indonesia at the vice premier's level on August 1st, 2016 at Guiyang, implementing arrangements on co-establishing China-Indonesia joint laboratory were signed by Mr. Wang Zhigang, Vice Minister (minister level) of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and Mr. Mohamad Nasir, Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Vice-Premier Liu Yandong and Indonesian Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani jointly witnessed the signing of the arrangements of both governments.

In accordance with the agreements, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China and the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (MRTHE) of Indonesia agreed to establish China-Indonesia Joint Laboratory on Biotechnology and New Energy as platform for conducting high-level joint research, enhancing exchange and training of researchers, and encouraging technology transfer, so as to strengthen the scientific and technological capacity building in Indonesia, and build up a cooperative relationship in the development of Biotechnology and New Energy in a long term and steady way between the two countries. MOST and MRTHE will provide necessary support to both Implementing Institutes to ensure the establishment and development of Joint Laboratory.
