Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good Evening!

On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, I would like to extend warm welcome to you all.

China and Indonesia are linked together by the great ocean, and it's a bond of friendship. 600 years ago, Admiral Zheng He, an exceptional Chinese sailor led a fleet to today's Indonesia and built up deep friendship cherished by our two peoples. This year marks the 6oth anniversary of the China-Indonesia diplomatic ties and the Year of Friendship between us. It's fair to say that the visit by the Chinese naval task force put an remarkable period for the one-year celebrations. The task force not only accomplished their escort mission but pay friendly visits to countries en route which could be called a trip of peace and friendship.

The Chinese Military is a staunch force for world peace. In the past 5 year, 13,000 Chinese military officers and solders have devoted to the UN peacekeeping missions, participated in the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, flood relief efforts in Pakistan and so on. Seven naval task forces have joined the escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and Somali waters. This task force has already sailed 6 months on the sea and escorted 615 ships from China, Indonesia and many other countries. Their dedication and professionalism shall win the admiration of all of us.

China-Indonesia military ties is an important part of our bilateral strategic partnership. The military exchanges and cooperation in recent years have greatly promoted the development of China-Indonesia relations. As two major developing countries in Asia, China and Indonesia could make their due contribution to peace and stability of the region and the world at large. During the visit, a series of games and activities have been held between the two navies. Peace, friendship and trust are our shared language. I would like to take this opportunity to extend sincere gratitude to the Indonesian side for their warm and cordial arrangement.

Tomorrow, the Chinese Naval task force will leave Indonesia for China. They come all the way here for peace and go back home with friendship. Your families are looking forward to the family reunion and they will share your pride and glory. The Year 2011 is walking towards us, our beloved officers and solders will celebrate the new year on the sea. Here, I would like to wish them and all of you present a happy new year and good luck!
