Ambassador Xiao Qian meets Former President of the Republic of Indonesia Bachruddin Jusuf Habibie

H.E. Ambassador Xiao Qian met with Former President of the Republic of Indonesia Bachruddin Jusuf Habibie on 05 June 2018. Both of them exchange opinions on China-Indonesia relations and the exchange of think tanks between the two countries.

Ambassador Xiao valued Mr. Habibie’s important contributions to the Indonesian nation and people. He said that in recent years, bilateral relations between China and Indonesia have maintained a good momentum of development. China is willing to continue to strengthen the high-level exchanges between the two sides, deepen the development of strategic cooperation and pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and promote greater development of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Mr. Habibie warmly welcomed Ambassador Xiao and recalled his experiences with Chinese leaders. He said that the historical origins of Indonesia and China can be traced back to the past millennium. It is very gratifying to see the vigorous development of relations and mutually cooperation between the two countries in recent years, bringing real benefits to both peoples, and he hopes that bilateral relations will develop better and better in the future. Mr. Habibie also introduced the background of the Habibie Center that he founded and said that the Habibie Center hopes to strengthen exchanges with China and make positive contributions to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
