China-Indonesia 10th Technical Committee Meeting(TCM) held in Jakarta

On 14-15 December,the 10th Technical Committee Meeting(TCM) between the Government of the people’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Meeting was co-chaired by H. E. Ambassador Lan Lijun and H. E. Dr. iur. Damos Dumoli Agusman, Director General for Legal Affairs and International Treaties, attended by officials from relevant ministries and institutions of the two countries. The cooperation was established under the MoU on Maritime Cooperation signed in 2012 that reflected towards technical cooperation areas.

The Meeting underlined the importance of strengthening maritime cooperation between the two countries. The meeting recalled the progress of relevant maritime cooperation projects. The related authorities from both countries conducted constructive consultations on further advancing the agreed projects and maintained close communications on other potential project proposals.

Project proposals discussed in the Meeting included topics such as maritime security, marine law enforcement capacity building programs, marine scientific research and observation, and other projects extending cooperation between the two countries to jointly uphold maritime peace and stability within the region. H.E. Ambassador Lan Lijun underlined that the maritime cooperation in Indonesia can be a role for current and future cooperation in the ASEAN region.

The Meeting agreed to strengthen dialogue on maritime cooperation and work closely to manifest the projects in order to achieve a significant success for both countries. The meeting committed to accomplish the projects under the 2nd MCC meeting and further adopted the relevant maritime cooperation project to be considered under the framework of the 3rd MCC meeting.

Mr. Sun Weide, Charge d'Affaires ad interim of Chinese Embassy met Chinese delegation before the Meeting,and Mr. Xu Hangtian,the Political Counsellor of the Embassy attended the Meeting.
