Defence Attaché Sr. Col. Zhou Jian Introduces China's Defense Policy to Senior Indonesia Military Officers

On March 8, Defence Attaché Sr. Col. Zhou Jian delivered a speech on China’s defense policy to senior military officers from Indonesian armed forces, at the Multi-functional Conference Hall of Ministry of Defence, Republic of Indonesia.

Sr. Col. Zhou elaborated on China ’s defense policy including security situation, military missions, military strategic guideline, military reform and international security cooperation. Sr. Col. Zhou then answered questions from Indonesian military officers regarding China’s military development, military reform as well as international and regional security situation. Sr. Col. Zhou stressed that China will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development, pursue an independent foreign policy of peace, commit to a defence policy that is defensive in nature and uphold active defence strategy. China is ready to promote bilateral military relations with Indonesia on the basis of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit and win-win outcome.

The Director of International Cooperation of Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Rizerius Eko says, it is the first time for the Indonesian Ministry of Defense to have a foreign Defence Attaché to present national defense policy. Sr. Col. Zhou’s presentation and exchanges with Indonesian officers will help the Indonesian armed forces understand the Chinese armed forces more comprehensively and objectively, which shows the Chinese military transparence and confidence. As a major power in the world, China always follows the path of peaceful development, never seeks hegemony and plays a constructive role in safeguarding regional and international security and stability. The Indonesian side highly appreciates that. Indonesia is ready to work together with China to push the bilateral military relations to a new height.
